[Stablecoin Protocol Ebisu Announces Gradual Shutdown, Frontend to Be Disabled on October 30]
High-yield stablecoin protocol Ebisu has announced a gradual shutdown, with its frontend set to be disabled in three months (October 30). Users are required to close vaults, withdraw Stability Pool deposits, and remove ebUSD DEX liquidity before October 30. The minting of ebUSD has already been suspended. Ebisu aimed to provide fixed-rate credit through ebUSD, but the team was unable to scale ebUSD liquidity to a level sufficient to support meaningful borrowing activity. Various approaches, including instant liquidation, multi-chain collateral, and structured vaults, failed to address the core bottleneck of CDP protocols—creating sufficient liquidity and sustained demand for stablecoins. Ebisu has confirmed that the EBISU token will not be launched, nor will there be any airdrops to xEBISU or BOLD holders. xEBISU has no monetary value and cannot be redeemed.
