[UK FCA Policy Report: Cross-Border Payments Are the Most Important Use Case for Stablecoins] According to a report by Cointelegraph, the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has released its Stablecoin Sprint policy report, which highlights cross-border payments as the most clearly defined near-term use case for stablecoins. However, domestic retail adoption in the UK is expected to progress more slowly. Participating institutions noted that stablecoins demonstrate the greatest advantages in emerging markets where access to the US dollar is restricted, but they offer limited benefits in major corridors with existing fast and low-cost payment systems. UK consumers lack strong incentives to switch, as current payment methods are already sufficiently fast and inexpensive. However, merchants could benefit from lower costs and faster settlement. This feedback has been incorporated into the FCA's final rules, published on June 30, which require stablecoins issued in the UK to be fully backed by reserve assets and redeemable at face value.
