[Wells Fargo: Fed Rates Expected to Hold Steady, but Waller's Communication Style May Bring Greater Market Volatility]
Jin10 News, July 29 – Paul Christopher, Head of Global Investment Strategy at Wells Fargo Investment Institute, stated that the Federal Reserve's interest rates are expected to remain unchanged. The easing of inflation in June has provided policymakers with an opportunity to extend the pause on rate hikes and wait for more data.
Luis Alvarado, Co-Head of Global Fixed Income Strategy at the institute, pointed out that Waller has made it clear that 'bringing inflation back to 2% remains the Fed's top priority, and policymakers have almost zero tolerance for a rebound in price pressures. We believe he genuinely trusts that the Fed can achieve this goal.'
Alvarado noted that the biggest change Waller might bring lies in his communication style, particularly in forward guidance. Investors should anticipate increased policy flexibility and potentially greater market volatility between meetings. For Waller, the ability to act and respond flexibly based on changing circumstances remains critical.
