[AmericanFortress Proposes Quantum-Safe Wallet Protection Solution Without Requiring Fund Transfers or Address Changes]
According to Cointelegraph, blockchain security company AmericanFortress has proposed an encryption solution that can protect existing cryptocurrency wallets from future quantum attacks without requiring users to transfer funds, rotate keys, or change wallet addresses. The solution is detailed in a technical paper published on the Cryptography ePrint Archive, describing its compatibility with seed-hierarchical deterministic wallets based on elliptic curve cryptography, such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana. It utilizes zero-knowledge proofs based on the wallet's original mnemonic phrases rather than replacing existing elliptic curve cryptography. Participating nodes verify these proofs, allowing users to continue signing transactions with their existing keys. AmericanFortress cited Bloomberg's analysis, which suggests that if sufficiently powerful quantum computers emerge, up to $470 billion worth of Bitcoin could be at risk.
