Saw these two latest pieces of news, and I think they’re super interesting! First: NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang is calling on the U.S. government to support open-weight AI models. Open-weight models are crucial for the safety and security of artificial intelligence. Second: OpenAI and Anthropic employees have jointly written a letter urging the U.S. government to establish mechanisms to monitor AI development. Because the speed of AI development might surpass humanity’s ability to “understand or control” it, posing “real risks.” On one side, you’ve got the guy selling shovels who wishes you’d dig faster and faster. On the other side, the miners themselves are starting to panic. Is Jensen Huang right? Yes. Open weights are the inevitable path to AI democratization, and it aligns with NVIDIA’s business logic of selling more chips. Are OpenAI employees right? Also yes. The pace at which AGI is approaching is faster than anyone anticipated. If safety mechanisms can’t keep up, it’s like playing Russian roulette with a nuclear button. But the truly interesting part isn’t about who’s right or wrong. It’s about how a shovel-selling CEO and a miner using the shovel are giving completely opposite judgments on the same issue. And both believe they’re doing the right thing. When the market encounters this kind of contradiction for the first time, it often signals that a critical tipping point is near. Jensen Huang stands on the side of commercial expansion, while the employees stand on the side of human safety. Both make sense, but their interests are starting to diverge. Jensen Huang hopes all model developers can afford GPUs, regardless of whether they care about safety. OpenAI employees hope the government steps in, even if it means disrupting the pace of commercialization. The outcome of this game will determine the direction of AI for the next decade: Will we run fast enough that risks can’t catch up? Or will we stop to ensure every step is solid? No one knows the answer. But the market is already voting with its feet. SOX is down, VIX is up. This isn’t panic—it’s uncertainty being priced in. What do you guys think? Should countries strengthen safety regulations for artificial intelligence and AI models? #AI #ArtificialIntelligence #OpenAI #NVIDIA #Anthropic #TechNews
