[PayPal Q2 Results Exceed Expectations, No Response on Potential Acquisition Deal]
According to Bloomberg, PayPal announced its second-quarter results, reporting adjusted earnings per share of $1.38, surpassing analysts' expectations of $1.27. Total payment volume reached $486.4 billion, also exceeding market estimates. The company has also raised its 2026 adjusted earnings per share guidance to $5.38, higher than last year's level. Previously, private equity firm Advent and payment competitor Stripe had reportedly made an acquisition offer of approximately $60 per share, but PayPal did not address this in its latest statement. New CEO Enrique Lores, who took office in March this year, has restructured business lines and plans to cut about 20% of the workforce over the next two to three years.
