[Goldman Sachs: Chinese AI Developers May Shift to 'Paid Weights' Commercial Licensing Model]
DeepTech TechFlow reports that on July 28, according to the South China Morning Post, Goldman Sachs stated that as the global usage of Chinese AI models grows rapidly, Chinese AI developers may start charging commercial licensing fees to cloud platforms for hosting their open-weight models in the future. The report mentions that Chinese models such as Moonshadow Kimi K3 and Zhipu GLM-5.2 have achieved performance levels close to leading U.S. competitors. However, since Chinese companies typically release models under open-source terms, overseas platforms and developers can freely download, modify, and host their core 'weights,' prompting related enterprises to seek more revenue monetization strategies.
