[Analysis: Binance BTC Retail Inflows Approximately Double That of Whales, Whale Inflows Down 44.3% from Recent Highs]
CryptoQuant analysis highlights a significant divergence in Bitcoin inflow data on Binance. The 30-day total inflow for whales is $3.9 billion, down 44.3% from the June 12 peak of approximately $7 billion; retail inflows stand at $7.8 billion, down only 22% from around $10 billion on June 5. Currently, retail inflows are about double that of whales, with a gap of $3.9 billion.
The analysis points out that this divergence coincides with the lead-up to the Federal Reserve's FOMC meeting on July 28-29. Federal funds futures are currently pricing in a roughly 36% probability of a 25 basis point rate hike, with maintaining the target range of 3.50-3.75% being the more likely scenario. From Bitcoin's perspective, an unexpected rate hike could support the U.S. dollar and Treasury yields, increasing volatility in risk assets; if a rate hike pause is accompanied by dovish guidance, it could partially alleviate macroeconomic pressures.
