AMD to Establish AI Research Center in South Korea, Building an Open AI Infrastructure Ecosystem

According to Deep Tide TechFlow on July 27, citing South Korea's *Maeil Business Newspaper*, AMD (AMD.O) will establish an artificial intelligence research center in South Korea and build an open AI infrastructure ecosystem. On July 27, South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT announced that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with AMD on July 23 in San Francisco regarding cooperation on the AI chip ecosystem. AMD plans to set up an AI Center of Excellence in South Korea to support technological collaboration among South Korean enterprises, universities, and research institutions, as well as AI chip software development, computing technology validation, and joint research. It will also promote collaboration with local South Korean AI chip companies. The MOU includes the construction of heterogeneous AI computing infrastructure, connecting AMD's CPUs and GPUs with AI chips (NPUs) from South Korean companies that have advantages in inference. Both parties also plan to build an open AI computing ecosystem, encouraging South Korean companies to participate collectively.
