[South Korean Individual Investors Net Buy Nearly 70 Trillion Won in ETFs This Year, Continue Accumulating During Market Correction] According to Deep Tide TechFlow, on July 26, citing South Korean media YNA, data from the Korea Exchange (KRX) and financial information agency Yonhap Infomax showed that as of July 24, South Korean individual investors had cumulatively net purchased ETFs worth 69.5 trillion won this year. This accounts for 63.2% of the net purchase amount of 109.9 trillion won in the Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) market during the same period. Despite the recent correction phase in the South Korean stock market, individual investors have continued to allocate funds through ETFs rather than directly purchasing individual stocks. Data indicates that during the KOSPI correction period, individual investors cumulatively net sold approximately 7.6 trillion won worth of stocks but still net purchased about 1.8 trillion won worth of ETFs during the same period. In terms of capital flows, around 2 trillion won has flowed into covered call and monthly dividend ETFs over the past month. Meanwhile, growth-themed ETFs such as those focused on semiconductors, space technology, and AI have seen capital outflows, reflecting a decline in investor risk appetite and a preference for income-generating ETFs that provide stable cash flows.
