Merchants can use the open payment standard x402 developed by Coinbase to receive USDC payments from autonomous software and manage, reconcile, and convert related funds within the same account. Coinbase Business was launched in June 2025 and has signed approximately 5,000 clients, processing a cumulative payment and transaction volume of around $1 billion. Enterprises using this service can earn a 3.35% reward on eligible idle USDC balances. Early use cases are concentrated in digital services such as APIs, cloud storage, and domain names. At the same time, Coinbase has added real-time trading functionality to Coinbase for Agents, allowing AI agents to monitor open orders, view market depth, and track real-time prices and trading volumes.
