🚨UPDATE: The White House says Democrats should accept the crypto limits placed on Trump, but Democrats argue the CLARITY Act does not go far enough.
Here is what the bill would do:
- Temporarily ban senior officials from issuing or sponsoring crypto
- Cover the president, vice president, Congress and federal judges
- Exclude past activity and potentially Trump’s World Liberty Financial stake
- Give enforcement authority to the DOJ, with fines capped at $500,000
- Allow regulators to block platforms from listing prohibited assets
- End the restrictions in early 2029
Democrats want state attorneys general to enforce the rules.
The bill still lacks the 60 Senate votes needed, and missing the summer deadline could sharply reduce its chances of passing in 2026.(Coin Bureau)
