Coinbase CEO: Some operations may leave the U.S. if crypto legislation stalls
On July 21, 2026, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong (@brian_armstrong) stated in an interview with CNBC at the U.S. Congress that if the U.S. fails to pass clear crypto legislation, Coinbase will continue building its company in the U.S., but some operations may shift to offshore markets with clearer regulations.
He emphasized that the company hopes to keep most of its operations in the U.S., but this depends on having codified laws and regulatory certainty that can persist across administrations. Otherwise, capital, operations, and users may continue to flow outside the U.S. regulatory framework.
