[Zama Launches Confidential RFQ Protocol, Allowing Institutions to Execute Trades Without Revealing Size, Assets, or Direction]
Rand, the founder of the privacy computing project Zama, announced on the X platform that the Zama Confidential RFQ (Request for Quote) protocol has been launched. A private test version is now live on the Ethereum mainnet, with a public release expected in September, and future support for multiple chains planned.
The protocol is based on the ERC-7984 confidential token standard and enables professional market makers to compete in sealed-bid auctions to fill crypto trades, keeping the trade size, direction, and asset type completely hidden throughout the process. It aims to address issues like MEV (Miner Extractable Value) and front-running caused by the transparency of large on-chain transactions.
The protocol allocates 100% of swap fees to buy back and burn ZAMA tokens, with no front-end fees. Zama stated that large on-chain transactions currently rely on OTC (over-the-counter) trades or dark pools to avoid exposing strategies.
