Coinbase is expanding its AI payment business, enabling companies to accept AI agent payments through Coinbase Payments and the x402 open internet payment standard. Sid Coelho-Prabhu, Head of Coinbase Business, stated that agent payments are one of the company’s 'most confident investment directions,' adding that in the future, AI agents will be able to discover products, complete transactions, and make payments autonomously. As of now, Coinbase Business has approximately 5,000 clients, with a cumulative payment and transaction volume of around $1 billion.
