[Anthropic Chief Economist: AI Will Not Lead to a Rise in Unemployment in the Short Term]
Deep Tide TechFlow reports that on July 23, Anthropic Chief Economist Peter McClory stated that AI has not significantly increased unemployment rates so far, as it is more about augmenting rather than replacing human labor. He noted that models like Claude are still unable to independently handle tasks involving interpersonal coordination and face-to-face communication. He predicts that AI will not have a substantial impact on overall unemployment rates for at least the next year. Entrepreneur Mark Cuban believes that AI may never surpass humans in understanding the consequences of actions and making real-time on-site judgments, and companies should maximize the advantages of human-machine collaboration.
