According to a report by BFM Business, CertiK's latest findings reveal that in the first half of 2026, there were 52 physical attacks and extortion incidents targeting cryptocurrency holders globally, marking a 33% increase compared to the same period last year. Related losses and ransom amounts skyrocketed to $124.1 million, compared to approximately $10.5 million during the same period in 2025. The report highlights that Europe has become the main hotspot (with 39 incidents), with France identified as the "epicenter," recording 33 cases of "wrench attacks" (where victims are forced to surrender private keys or passwords through physical violence or torture). CertiK believes that France's highly visible crypto ecosystem, combined with recent data breaches in both public and private sectors leading to the exposure of holders' private data, is a key factor making it a primary target. https://www.(wublock123.com)/news/news-65169
