Fox to acquire streaming platform Roku for $22 billion
According to Golden Finance, on June 15th, FOXA. US will acquire streaming video platform Roku (ROKU. US) for $160 per share through cash and stock, valuing Roku's enterprise value at approximately $22 billion. The two companies stated in a statement on Monday that the transaction is expected to be completed in the first half of 2027 and will combine Fox's sports, news, and entertainment content resources with the ROKU platform, which has over 100 million subscribers. According to the statement, Fox has obtained $12 billion in fully committed bridge financing from Morgan Stanley's senior finance division to support this acquisition. Roku's streaming devices allow consumers to watch content from apps such as Netflix and HBO Max on their TVs, making any TV a smart one. Most of Roku's revenue comes from digital advertising sales and streaming service distribution, with hardware device sales accounting for only a small portion of the revenue. Last year, its platform business achieved a revenue of 4.1 billion US dollars, accounting for 87.5% of the company's total revenue.
FOXA. US fell 14% to $56.6 before trading, while Roku. US rose over 2% to $146.84 before trading.
