[U.S. Official: If Government Funding Shortage Persists, Some Airports May Have to Shut Down] According to a report by Jinse Finance, on March 17, a senior official from the Trump administration stated on Tuesday that if the government funding shortage continues, it may lead to the forced closure of some smaller airports in the coming weeks due to a lack of security personnel. The partial government shutdown has already resulted in 50,000 Transportation Security Administration (TSA) airport security staff working without pay over the past month, with 10% of personnel not reporting to work on Sunday. 'Over time, if this situation persists, we will indeed need to take very serious measures, such as potentially shutting down airports entirely—especially smaller airports,' Adam Stahl, Acting Deputy Administrator of the TSA, told Fox News.
