Ethereum L1 must maintain high TVL & users! Higher TVL & more users -> more address poisoning attack transactions-> more ETH burnt. If TVL goes to L2s/alt-L1s, dusting attacks also leave :( On a more serious note, the attack success rate is just 0.01% (1 in 10,000 transfers), but as Ethereum L1 scales, address poisoning attacks get cheaper so poisoning became industrialized. After the Fusaka upgrade cut attack costs by up to 600%, sub-$0.01 'dust' transfers increased, then cooled but still stayed above pre-Fusaka levels. Is there solution for this? Perhaps increasing gas costs for low-value transactions? Probably not gonna happen. It's easier to learn address management and CEXs as well as wallets like Rabby are making sending txs safer.(Ignas | DeFi)
