[Tether Stops Supporting Offshore Chinese Yuan Stablecoin CNHT]
On February 21, Tether officially announced the discontinuation of support for the offshore Chinese yuan-pegged stablecoin CNHT, providing a one-year redemption window. CNHT, launched in 2019, has seen low market acceptance and has ceased minting and issuance on the Ethereum and Tron blockchains as of today. Holders must complete redemption by early 2027. Tether stated that this move is part of a strategic adjustment aimed at focusing resources on products with strong intrinsic adoption rates. The withdrawal of CNHT is primarily due to its usage scale and liquidity being unable to compare with USDT. Other products such as EURT and MXN₮ remain unaffected, and the company will continue to focus on expanding its core asset USDT, as well as improving on-chain settlement and reserve transparency reporting.
