The number of people holding 1 BTC is way smaller than the number of on-chain addresses. On-chain data: There are a total of 974,429 addresses globally holding ≥1 BTC. But this number needs a big discount. Bitcoin has a change mechanism—the longer a wallet is used, the more on-chain addresses it generates. One person could correspond to a dozen addresses. And if you factor in exchanges, institutions, and lost coins... The actual number of individuals? Optimistically, cut it in half. Pessimistically, it could be even less. So if you hold 1 BTC, chances are you're already in the top 400,000 globally. When you think about it, it's actually pretty scarce.
