Bitcoin's Layer 2 network, the Lightning Network (LN), has reached a new all-time high in network capacity amidst increased adoption by major cryptocurrency exchanges and functionality upgrades. According to Bitcoin Visuals data, the Lightning Network's capacity hit 5,606 BTC on Monday, surpassing its previous record set in March 2023. Lightning Network data platform Amboss also reported that capacity briefly rose to 5,637 BTC on Tuesday, equivalent to approximately $490 million at current prices. Amboss noted that major cryptocurrency exchanges like Binance and OKX depositing more BTC into the Lightning Network this month has been a key factor driving the capacity increase.
