[USPD Protocol Suffers Advanced Attack, Losing Approximately 232 stETH; Attacker Mints 98 Million USPD Tokens]
Odaily Planet Daily News: The official USPD protocol team issued an urgent security alert today, confirming that the protocol suffered a severe security vulnerability attack, resulting in unauthorized token minting and liquidity depletion. The attacker utilized an advanced attack method known as 'CPIMP,' executing a proxy initialization during deployment on September 16 to gain hidden administrator privileges. By installing a 'shadow' implementation and manipulating event data, the attacker successfully bypassed verification tools, including Etherscan, and remained undetected for months. Today, they used the privileges to mint approximately 98 million USPD tokens and steal around 232 stETH. The USPD team has collaborated with law enforcement and security organizations to flag the attacker's address and freeze the funds. Additionally, they have proposed treating the incident as a white-hat rescue operation, offering to cease legal actions if 90% of the funds are returned.
