[Opinion: Bitcoin's drop of over 30% from its all-time high is normal volatility, previously it has dropped over 55%]
BlockBeats News, December 4, according to CNBC, Bitcoin's price recently fell approximately 36% from its all-time high of $126,000 to below $81,000. However, data shows that this level of correction is a regular occurrence in Bitcoin's history. Currently, Bitcoin's trading price has rebounded to surpass $93,000, representing a decline of about 26% from its all-time high.
Data indicates that during Bitcoin cycles in 2021 and 2017, similar or even larger declines occurred multiple times. Historical data shows that corrections of this magnitude have typically been followed by rebounds to new all-time highs. Bitcoin experienced a drop of over 55% between April and June 2021, after which it rebounded to a new high in November of the same year.
Jacob Joseph, Senior Research Analyst at CoinDesk Data, stated that from past cycles, this level of volatility aligns with long-term trends. In this cycle, Bitcoin has already experienced a 32.7% correction between March and August 2024, and a 31.7% drop between January and April 2025. Lucy Gazmararian, founder of Token Bay Capital, noted that the recent price fluctuations are related to one of the largest forced liquidation events in crypto history.
