Tomorrow, the Ethereum Fusaka upgrade is coming! Simply put, the highlight is that L2 transaction fees will drop significantly (potentially by 40-60%), and L2 users will definitely feel the difference. This is thanks to the PeerDAS (EIP-7594) technology. Previously, every node had to store all the data (blobs), but now PeerDAS shares the load, so each node only stores a portion. This could increase data capacity by 8x or more, which helps bring down fees. Additionally, Ethereum L1's capacity is also getting a boost. The gas limit per block is increasing from 30M to 60M (EIP-7935 & EIP-7825), meaning more transactions can fit into a single block, which improves speed and lowers costs. At the same time, EIP-7825 introduces a 16.78M gas limit for single transactions to prevent any massive transaction from crashing the network. Another improvement that regular users will notice is the ability to create wallets without needing to remember a seed phrase (EIP-7951). Seed phrases are still supported, but now there's an option to skip them, with passkey support (using the secp256r1 curve). This allows you to use hardware signatures from your phone or computer. For most everyday users, using a wallet will feel more like logging into a Web2 account. Of course, this seedless wallet approach isn’t without its downsides—it relies on the security of third-party devices (hardware security modules) and the recovery mechanisms provided by third-party providers, among other things.
