[New Doubts in the Qian Zhimin Case: 120,000 BTC Out of 195,000 Unaccounted For, Claims Wallet with 20,000 BTC Lost Password]
The China News Weekly published an article titled 'The 40 Billion Yuan Worth of Bitcoin Taken by Qian Zhimin—Can It Be Returned to China?' It pointed out that Qian Zhimin, the main perpetrator of the 60,000 BTC money laundering case, had purchased a total of 194,951 BTC, which is higher than the 61,000 BTC identified by the police. However, the court did not disclose the status of the remaining 120,000+ BTC, suggesting that Qian Zhimin's assets may still include undiscovered or unconfiscated Bitcoin. Detective Joe Ryan from the London Metropolitan Police revealed that Qian Zhimin claimed to have 'lost the password' to a wallet containing 20,000 BTC. Based on the latest market valuation, just these 'lost' Bitcoins are worth approximately 12.5 billion yuan.
