The Government of Jamaica will provide rebuilding grants to assist homeowners affected by recent disasters. Payments will be based on an assessment framework that categorizes damage as minor, moderate, or severe. While the categories have been defined, we are waiting to reach a critical threshold of damage assessments to determine how much funding to allocate for each category. We expect to reach approximately 30,000 assessments soon, which will allow us to identify patterns in the damage and establish precise thresholds for grant allocations. This process is being coordinated by ODPEM and the Ministry of Labour and Social Security to ensure timely and accurate distribution of assistance.(Andrew Holness)
