NICK TIMIRAOS ON MISSING LABOR DATA
The Fed will enter its Dec. 9–10 meeting without key labor reports.
🔸 BLS canceled the October jobs report, and the November report won’t be released until Dec. 16.
🔸 September JOLTS is canceled, with October JOLTS delayed to Dec. 9.
Fed officials say they can still forecast without these top-tier reports, but markets disagree: odds of a December rate cut have fallen, partly because missing high-quality data makes the decision harder, even more than recent hawkish Fed comments.(*Walter Bloomberg)
