The CEO of Figure actually thinks this is a fake video, which in itself says a lot. What exactly is there to fake? There aren’t that many robots to begin with, and they’re not doing anything particularly special. If you go to any tech expo in China right now, you’ll see exhibition halls filled with robot dogs and humanoid robots. Producing a few hundred of these robots—why would that seem unbelievable or worth faking? Is it just because they don’t suddenly collapse like that Russian robot? This video doesn’t prove their actual practicality, but people’s reactions are really interesting. The mere fact that someone can mass-produce these kinds of products is enough to make people uneasy. Plus, competition in China’s robotics field is insanely fierce. If UBTECH really faked this (and let’s be real, faking it would be ridiculously easy), their many competitors would have exposed them immediately. But in reality… there are already quite a few players in China capable of achieving this level of production. It’s entirely believable. The unanswered question for now is: what’s the actual use of these things?
