[U.S. Accounting Board to Discuss Adding 'Crypto Transfer' Accounting Project]
According to Bloomberg, the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) will hold a meeting on November 19 to discuss whether to establish relevant standards for how companies should report cryptocurrency transfers in financial statements. The board plans to focus on whether to add a project related to the accounting treatment of crypto asset transfers to its technical agenda. At the meeting, the board will discuss various possible implementation paths, including expanding the scope of the standards it issued in 2023, clarifying derecognition guidance for crypto asset transfers, or pursuing both measures simultaneously. Notably, this meeting comes just weeks after FASB added a technical project on the classification of stablecoins.
