Qian Zhimin, after running scams in China and swindling huge sums of money,
in June 2014, spent 180 million yuan on Huobi to buy 100,000 Bitcoin,
gradually increasing his holdings to nearly 190,000 Bitcoin.
He then stored the Bitcoin in a wallet on a laptop and fled China in 2017,
first sneaking into Myanmar, then flying to Thailand, transferring to Laos,
and eventually making his way to the UK via Malaysia.
However, selling Bitcoin to buy a villa in the UK triggered anti-money laundering investigations,
scaring him into hiding for 6 years, but he was finally caught last year.
