[U.S. Senate Democrats Push Spending Plan to End Government Shutdown]
According to Jintou citing AXIOS, multiple sources revealed that several U.S. Senate Democratic lawmakers stated on Sunday that they are ready to advance a legislative package to end the government shutdown. This marks the most significant breakthrough in bipartisan negotiations in over a month.
Sources indicate that at least 10 Democratic senators are expected to support a procedural motion to advance a plan that includes a comprehensive spending bill and a short-term funding measure to keep the federal government operating until the end of January next year.
The agreement includes a vote in December on the Democratic proposal to extend Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits for one year, and may also include provisions to assist federal employees who were laid off due to the shutdown. Senators unusually stayed in Washington over the weekend for meetings and are expected to vote on the procedural motion for the government funding plan on Sunday.
