I didn't expect @ caffeineai's impressive performance to ignite the long dormant ICP. But what are the technical highlights of ICP that have truly been "buried"? Let me briefly share my opinion: 1) Let's first explain an awkward reality to the uninformed onlookers. Recently, AWS encountered a problem and a large number of web3 public chains also went down. Many people find it ridiculous that blockchain, which claims to be decentralized, relies on the cloud service infrastructure of web2? In fact, many DeFi applications that we are familiar with only have contracts on the chain, rely on AWS for front-end, have DNS controlled by operators, and rely on Cloudflare for CDN... To put it bluntly, decentralized applications in the eyes of users may collapse due to a domain name being blocked or a server being hacked, and are criticized by many as "pseudo decentralization". ICP is the optimal solution to this problem, as its overall architecture compiles both the front-end and back-end onto the chain, allowing the entire application to run on the chain and truly achieving decentralized applications. 2) Due to the significant difference between the technical aspects of ICP and the current mainstream public chain technology paradigm, I would like to highlight a few key points: 1. Reverse Gas will change the payment model of users paying Gas, allowing developers to burn ICP in advance to exchange for computing fuel, and then users can use it for free. This actually continues the mature free+value-added service business model of web2, where developers such as YouTube, Spotify, Notion, etc. bear the infrastructure operation and maintenance costs, and then earn them back through subscriptions or value-added services. The question is, why do developers burn money to support users? I'm afraid the long-term ecological downturn of ICP is also due to this reason, but the emergence of products like Caffeine may be a turning point. The Vibe coding model significantly reduces development and operation costs, and the consumption brought by x402 makes it feasible to burn money to support users. 2. Chain Key technology, through a threshold signature protocol, can directly generate ECDSA signatures and hold assets on any chain such as BTC, ETH, SOL, etc. without the need for any bridges or wrapped versions. In other words, the multi chain interoperability solutions implemented by other public chains over the years through cross chain bridges and Wrapped encapsulation, as well as the costs of hacker attacks and liquidity dispersion, are no longer a problem with ICP. Similarly, its built-in free oracle is also similar. The question is again, if cross chain solutions can be directly solved from the cryptographic layer, what is the significance of the DeFi Lego building accumulated in the market over the years? I don't think there is a conflict. ICP only provides a more fundamental solution, and the rise of the ecosystem is needed to verify the value of the technology. It cannot deny the accumulation we have in the DeFi world. 3. Large capacity on chain storage, ICP's smart contract can store 52GB of data at a cost of approximately $5 per year for 1GB, which is the key difference from Ethereum's high storage cost for state machines. This also means that videos, images, and large-scale datasets can be directly stored on the chain without relying on IPFS or centralized storage. So we have achieved full stack on chain and truly decentralized applications. We seem to have become accustomed to the combination mode of on chain and off chain driven by "pure financial transactions" now. But in the future, to explore potential scenarios for larger scale commercialization such as AI agents, full chain games, and peer-to-peer SocialFi, it is necessary to desensitize to the concept of on chain storage. I believe that is the moment when ICP truly shows off; 3) Anyway, if ICP can re-enter the mainstream view and make everyone sincerely marvel at the charm of technological superiority, I think it is a brand new beginning. Especially Caffeine has truly brought confidence to the ICP ecosystem. In the past, when people went to learn about ICP, they would tell you that things like World Computer and 210000 TPS may sound impressive, but who cares. Now let you experience the magic of Caffeine: AI chat generates applications in 10 minutes, fully on chain, and users are free of charge. Has the appeal become stronger? In summary, Caffeine has brought attention, traffic, and a good start to the ICP ecosystem to ICP. Moreover, I sincerely believe that if ICP can serve as a super facilitator to integrate with the x402 protocol and other chains to achieve ecological interoperability, as an equally underlying infrastructure, x402 has payment infrastructure and a large on chain ecological group, but lacks practical applications, while ICP can generate a large number of applications but lacks a stable payment and consumption ecosystem for feedback. What kind of extraordinary Crypto would it bring if the two complement each other and learn from each other's strengths?
