Even my ex didn’t understand me. But then I thought about it carefully, and it’s actually true. AI’s 'smartness' relies on data. Whoever has more data, their model becomes smarter. But here’s the problem—public data has already been squeezed dry. If AI wants to keep improving, it’ll have to rely on 'private data.' Private data is the traces we leave online every day—like what food delivery you ordered today, what you searched for, how many times you watched a certain video. All of this counts. The issue is, we’ve always been afraid to share it. Afraid it’ll be sold, spied on, or exploited. And the result? The more data there is, the more valuable it becomes, but none of the profits ever end up in our pockets. It wasn’t until I came across two projects: @brevis_zk and Vana, that I felt like there’s hope for this. Brevis’s logic is super simple: You can let others 'use' your data, but they can’t see it. Using zero-knowledge proof (ZK) technology, others can verify that 'the calculation result is real,' but they can’t see 'what data you submitted.' It’s like telling someone you weigh 100 pounds (the calculation result) but not letting them see how you weighed yourself (the raw data). Vana fills in another gap: It lets users form 'data cooperatives,' where everyone voluntarily shares their data to create a 'data asset pool.' For example, if 1,000 people contribute health data and fitness data, AI can train models without leaking privacy. The money the model earns is then distributed back to everyone. When these two are combined, the logic clicks: Brevis handles 'security and trustworthiness,' while Vana handles 'organization and distribution.' One provides 'encrypted proof,' the other creates an 'economic loop.' The ultimate result is: You control your data, your privacy is protected, and you get paid for it. This isn’t just a turning point for AI—it’s a rewrite of the trust structure. In this new world, data is no longer a mine monopolized by platforms; it’s the 'means of production' in our own hands.
