GOLDMAN SACHS: POTENTIAL SHUTDOWN COULD HIT ECONOMY HARDEST ON RECORD
Goldman Sachs economist Alec Phillips warned a U.S. government shutdown could have the largest economic impact ever, likely lasting longer than the 35-day 2018–19 shutdown and affecting more agencies.
A six-week shutdown could cut Q4 growth by 1.15 percentage points, with a rebound expected in early 2026. Phillips said disruptions from air-traffic control to food-stamp programs are increasing pressure on Congress to end the stalemate.(*Walter Bloomberg)
