Vitalik openly praised zkSync, saying that zkSync "has done a lot of undervalued yet valuable work to advance the Ethereum ecosystem" and emphasized that "Ethereum's immutability is its most important attribute." This is also one of the key reasons behind today's $ZK token price surge.
Some people even tried to hype things up by making completely unrelated and somewhat unreasonable comparisons: claiming that when Vitalik endorsed Solana, SOL went from $8 to over $200. Some (like @MadMaxx_eth) are even calling this the start of "ZK szn" (ZK season).
Putting aside the hype, let's talk about why Vitalik publicly endorsed zkSync.
One of the most important reasons is the significance of Atlas for Ethereum scalability and ecosystem building: Atlas is a major iteration of the ZK Stack, supporting single-chain 15,000-30,000 TPS, 1-second ZK finality confirmation, and low gas fees (<$0.0001 per ERC-20 transfer). It aims to transform Ethereum L1 into a "real-time liquidity hub" for L2 chains, eliminating the need for fragmented liquidity pools and enabling 1-second cross-chain settlements between L2s. This can meet institutional adoption needs such as payments, RWA, and cross-border settlements. Additionally, zkSync's decentralized sequencer is on the way.
From a technical development perspective, zkSync is realizing Ethereum's "Rollup-centric" scalability vision; from a philosophical standpoint, it safeguards "Ethereum's immutability"; and from an ecosystem strategy perspective, it serves as a counterbalance to Solana and Base.
