x402 is getting a lot of attention as it represents a potential perfect intersection of AI × Crypto, building an Agentic economy on-chain. Beyond the grand and crowded x402, there’s another track worth watching: AI tools and gateways specifically designed for the Crypto community.
In this direction, projects like Surf, ChainOpera, Sentient, and Gradient have all launched AI products tailored for the crypto space. These products resemble ChatGPT in form but are optimized for crypto users in areas like information organization, pricing, and investment decision-making.
Today, let’s talk about the product @ChainOpera_AI.
Previously noticed that COAI was pumping hard—wondering if it caught the eye of some wild whales or speculative capital. Official data shows that ChainOpera has over 3 million AI users, more than 100,000 AI and dApp developers, and 40,000 on-chain token holders.
The technical background required for AI projects is generally much higher than that for crypto projects. The ChainOpera team’s expertise lies primarily in machine learning × blockchain, with the two founders sharing a common history at USC—one as a professor and the other as a PhD. They previously raised $17 million in funding, led by IDG Capital.
This team has been working in the AI space since 2021, having developed products like FedML, TensorOpera AI, and AgentOpera.
Got some intel on ChainOpera’s upcoming product roadmap, which includes several directions:
1) Launching an ecosystem fund and grant program for developers;
2) A new round of $50M financing;
3) Preparing to launch a DAT company.
Although the crypto user base isn’t huge, if they can create a connection and closed loop between user interactions and transactions—whether it’s letting users manually trigger trades or authorizing AI Agents to trade crypto assets (practicing x402)—it’s a fascinating path for commercialization.
