Let me explain again why I encourage so many young people who are new to the scene to go to Shenzhen! After coming back from Shenzhen yesterday, I wrote about the meetup with Lao Xue and Qiuxing. Although the time was tight and the conversation wasn’t long, I think this is what they call Shenzhen speed! Over the years, I’ve always liked Shenzhen as a city. Especially for those who just graduated and are entering the WEB3 space. If you ask me where you should go to develop yourself, I’d definitely recommend Shenzhen! If you’re in a third- or fourth-tier small city, you’re better off heading to Shenzhen! 1️⃣ Shenzhen is inclusive enough Your background, education, and origins matter here, but they’re not the most important things—especially in WEB3. If you’re hardworking and have a sharp mind, as long as you have ideas and action, you’ll be accepted. You’ll find that many people here started from scratch, so they’re more willing to give newcomers a chance. 2️⃣ In Shenzhen, you can meet more “key people” In other cities, resources are tightly controlled and social circles are rigid. But in Shenzhen, sometimes all it takes is a dinner party or an event to meet someone who’s willing to give you a hand. People here understand that time is precious, and collaboration is more efficient than scheming. 3️⃣ Shenzhen has more transparent information, which means more opportunities Whether it’s primary market opportunities, secondary MeMe trends, or emerging tech tracks, the earliest news and sharpest changes often start here in China. The gap in information is the gap in opportunities—understanding this can save you at least ten years of effort. 4️⃣ Shenzhen has more “doers” You’ll see people discussing collaborations during the day and writing proposals at night; some are coding in coffee shops, while others are revising PPTs at 2 a.m. This “everyone is hustling” vibe makes it easy to get into the zone. But all of this is based on one premise: Are you reliable? Are you someone who can be trusted? Being reliable isn’t about talking—it’s about delivering on your promises, taking responsibility, and being accountable for results. You need to make others feel at ease, and you need to feel at ease with yourself too! Shenzhen offers plenty of opportunities, but it also filters people quickly. Reliable people, even if they’re overlooked at first, will eventually be noticed. Unreliable people, even if they get opportunities, will soon be eliminated by the market.
