[Coinbase Q3 Earnings Exceed Expectations, Net Profit Reaches $432.6 Million, Transaction-Related Revenue Up 37% Quarter-on-Quarter]

Q3 net profit increased from $75.5 million (28 cents per share) in the same period last year to $432.6 million ($1.50 per share). Earnings per share surpassed analysts' consensus estimate of $1.10 compiled by the London Stock Exchange Group.
Revenue rose from $1.21 billion in the same period last year to $1.87 billion, exceeding analysts' expectations of $1.8 billion. Transaction-related revenue increased to $1 billion, up 37% from Q2, with retail trading revenue reaching $844 million, a quarter-on-quarter increase of 30%. Additionally, subscription and service revenue reached $747 million.
The platform's consumer trading volume surged to $59 billion, up 37% from the previous quarter. Retail trading revenue reached $844 million, a quarter-on-quarter increase of 30%. On the institutional side, Coinbase's Q3 trading revenue reached $135 million, up 122% from the previous quarter, while institutional trading volume grew 22% quarter-on-quarter to $236 billion.
Stablecoin revenue reached $355 million, a year-on-year increase of 7%. USDC holdings on Coinbase products reached $15 billion, a year-on-year increase of 9%.
Derivatives (Deribit + Coinbase) trading volume exceeded $840 billion, marking the highest level in U.S. crypto derivatives trading volume and market share history.
The company increased its Bitcoin holdings by 2,772 BTC, equivalent to approximately $299 million.
CEO Armstrong stated that as part of its strategy, Coinbase is integrating prediction markets, tokenized stocks, and other products into its platform. As the market size for various digital assets continues to expand and competition intensifies under favorable regulatory conditions, Coinbase's business expansion is critical to its future growth.
Following the news of the earnings report exceeding expectations, Coinbase (COIN) shares rose 3.5% in after-hours trading.
