It seems that everyone is making money now, and there are more and more people discussing second identities. Let me talk about myself. In the past two years, I have asked many friends to help me plan my identity, mainly for two reasons:
One is that chipmunks can have a guarantee of going to school, which means at least they need to have a PR. If it is a PR, they still need to study in the country for more than a certain period of time. If it is a passport, there is no such problem, but when they are forced to choose one, they will definitely choose a developed country.
The second one is tax planning, with the main ones being capital gains tax and inheritance tax. However, I have no concerns about CRS as long as I am a local tax resident. Of course, paying taxes in accordance with the law is the responsibility of every citizen.
I don't know why some friends have told me that obtaining an EP in Singapore is difficult. Singapore EP is probably the best third country compliant residency status I have ever encountered, and the one-time cost is very transparent, usually within 10000 US dollars. If it's cheap, it can be done for 10000 Singapore dollars.
I don't do EP or this business, but there are too many friends around me who do this. )
Of course, there are still maintenance costs for EP, but if you are only looking to open an account and obtain a compliant OTC channel, then this cost can be ignored. Undoubtedly, the biggest problem in Singapore is that EP to PR conversion is a black box, with too many uncertain factors inside. It is possible to pay taxes steadily, pay more taxes, have a good educational background, actively participate in community activities, hire more than two local residents, and have a son under the age of 18, all of which are bonus points. However, even so, there is no guarantee of 100% approval.
Many people say that it's difficult to pass this year because of the Singapore elections this year, and it will be difficult to approve PR during the elections. )
In addition, the cost of living in Singapore is indeed very high, compared to other popular areas such as Dubai, Japan, and Portugal, it is much higher. Even compared to Hong Kong, I think it is more expensive, although the living conditions are much better.
So as I mentioned last time, based on my own needs, the combination of Singapore EP and developed country PR (passport) is the best. Therefore, for developed country PR, my first choice is Japan. I also want to thank @ -FORAB for providing me with a lot of information. The main reason for choosing Japan is because it is fast and has relatively low maintenance costs.
The most important thing is that Japan does not require mandatory immigration supervision to maintain its PR, which is very important for me, whose life center is in Singapore.
In addition, there are also some things that make Singapore's environment more suitable for Chinese speaking friends. Even those who are not good at English living in Singapore will not have any obstacles, and compared to Europe and Australia, integration will be relatively easier. Moreover, Singapore's security is really good. If it were me, I would hope that in the future, Chipmunk could stay and work in Singapore, with salary and benefits not inferior to other developed countries and much higher safety.
