Here's why PENGU f**ked and MEME s**ked 👇
If you thought why I should read this post – skip it, you might need some easier content, not the one that will educate you. For others:
PENGU vs MEME: A lesson in execution.
Both started with strong NFT roots — Pudgy Penguins for PENGU, Memeland for MEME.
Both promised Web3 ecosystems, airdrops, and community-driven growth.
Only one delivered.
MEME – hype without follow-through
Launched Oct 23 on Ethereum with:
• 9GAG’s massive Web2 audience
• NFT base (Captainz, Potatoz, MVP)
• Vision for staking, governance & metaverse
But gas fees killed micro-use, rollout was slow, Web2 users churned, and the airdrop dumped.
Token split:
25% NFT holders • 20% team • 15% liquidity • 10% marketing
By July 25:
• Price: \0.013
• Market cap: < \500M
• Community activity: dead
PENGU – execution from day one
Launched Dec 24 on Solana.
Utility was live instantly — gaming, governance & perks in Pudgy World.
Solana’s low fees + speed fit perfectly. The airdrop hit Phantom, Jupiter & Solana-native users. Offline presence (Walmart toys), 1.7M+ IG followers & 50B+ impressions fueled growth.
Token split:
• 25.9% Pudgy NFT holders
• 24.1% Solana wallets
• 17.8% team
• 12.3% liquidity
• 11.4% marketing/dev
• Burned leftovers
By July 25:
• Price: \0.044
• Market cap: \2.75B
• Daily volume: \2.75B
Takeaway:
MEME had hype and couldn't deliver what they promised.
PENGU built fast, delivered early, and became culture.
P.S. I was a big fan of Memeland and made quite decent money there, so if you want to get in early in the next Memeland or Pudgy Penguins... maybe follow me?(Hanzo ㊗️)
