Russia passes digital ruble bill, CBDC is about to be launched

According to Golden Finance, Russian lawmakers have voted to pass a digital ruble bill that sets a timetable for the launch of a central bank digital currency (CBDC). According to the Russian state news agency TASS, the Duma has passed a law on the "gradual introduction" of the digital ruble, which is scheduled to take effect on September 1, 2026.
