According to a report by Golden Finance, a New Zealand woman has been charged with the murder of her elderly mother. Prosecutors stated on Monday that she was suspected of carrying out a cryptocurrency "exit scam" in the days leading up to the incident, extracting thousands of dollars through counterfeit trading profits while losing over $40000 in cryptocurrency and Bitcoin investments the previous year. Julia DeLuney is on trial at the Wellington High Court on suspicion of murdering her 79 year old mother, Helen Gregory. The case occurred on January 24, 2024, at Gregory's residence in Khandallah. The prosecutor accused Deluni of fabricating the scene to make it look like his mother fell from the attic and died, but forensic experts determined that the fatal injuries, including multiple blunt force injuries to the head, did not match the characteristics of the fall.
