Investors are chasing unprofitable firms and meme stocks: 10 of the 14 Russell 3000 stocks that have TRIPLED since the April 8th market low are unprofitable companies, according to Bespoke Investment Group. As of late June, 858 money-losing stocks included in the index had rallied +36% on average, surpassing returns of profitable companies. Avis Budget Group, CAR, the car rental company that first gained meme stock status in 2021, has seen its shares rally +161%. Carvana, CVNA, has seen its shares rise +108% over the same period. Meme stocks seem to be back.
