According to BlockBeats, on July 7th, US Treasury Secretary Vincent stated on Sunday that for countries that have not reached a trade agreement with the Trump administration, the tariffs announced in April this year will come back into effect on August 1st. Bessent said, "President Trump will send a letter to some of our trading partners saying that if you don't take action, your tariffs will return to the level of April 2 on August 1st." He said that on August 1st, countries that haven't reached an agreement will "receive a letter. Besant rejected the idea that August 1st would be another new tariff deadline, but the August date could still give trading partners more time to renegotiate tariff rates.
Bessent said, "What we're saying is that when things happen, if you want to speed up, then start quickly. If you want to go back to the original tax rate, that's your choice." In April of this year, Trump announced a 90 day suspension of high tariffs imposed on most major trading partners. The tariff suspension order will expire on Wednesday, July 9th. (CNBC)
