According to Golden Finance, Swedish Justice Minister Gunnar Strommer has called on the police, tax authorities, and enforcement agencies to strengthen the confiscation of criminal proceeds, including cryptocurrencies. According to the strict confiscation law passed last year, authorities can confiscate suspicious assets even if specific criminal behavior cannot be proven. Currently, approximately $8.4 million in assets have been seized. Some lawmakers have proposed using confiscated Bitcoin to establish national strategic reserves, following the example of countries such as the United States. Previous reports have pointed out that a large number of criminals in Sweden use cryptocurrency for money laundering, and law enforcement agencies have recommended expanding law enforcement actions on cryptocurrency platforms.
