When we took office in 2016, Jamaica’s economy was broken. Unemployment was high at over 13%, with youth unemployment above 30%. Our country owed 130% of what it produced. The last government introduced a programme called JEEP, but it couldn’t move. No engine, flat tires, no brakes. We came in, fixed the engine, added brakes, changed the tires, and made sure the driver was steady. That vehicle carried us through COVID, global inflation, war in Ukraine, and even Hurricane Beryl. During COVID, not one public worker lost their job or got a pay cut. Today: 🇯🇲 Unemployment is at a record low: 3.5% 🇯🇲 Youth unemployment is cut in half 🇯🇲 Debt is now down to 68% 🇯🇲And we’ve passed 10 budgets with no net new taxes This isn’t a JEEP anymore! With our economy in much better shape we’re focusing on your real, everyday issues, roads, water, and community development.
