Jamaica cannot meet its housing targets without strong industrial capacity. Carib Cement’s Debottleneck Project directly supports our national housing ambitions by increasing the supply of critical inputs like cement, essential for large-scale construction. We simply cannot build at the scale we need if production is held back by outdated or overstretched facilities. Carib Cement’s investment has already created jobs for engineers, tradesmen, and technicians, and will continue to contribute to national growth by expanding industrial capacity and supporting long-term job creation. Since 2016, this Government has delivered more housing starts than any previous administration. We’ve launched the New Social Housing Programme for our most vulnerable citizens, reformed the NHT to expand access to financing, and are modernizing our land titling system to unlock development across the island. Industrial growth fuels social transformation, and projects like this are building the foundation for a stronger, more resilient Jamaica.
