Private sector investments like Carib Cement’s expansion are not accidental, they are a direct reflection of the confidence that investors have in Jamaica’s economic policies and governance.
This plant, years ago, was standing still. There were no plans for expansion. Its future was uncertain.
So what changed?
The government changed, and more importantly, our economic policies changed. We put in place a framework that encouraged investment, policies that support growth, that manage debt responsibly, and that maintain macroeconomic stability. These are the conditions that give private sector leaders the confidence to invest, expand, and create jobs.
It is a mistake to think that government plays no role in private sector success.
Government matters.
The people you elect to manage your affairs, your economy, your future, they matter. And the investment by Carib Cement is proof that effective governance creates real, measurable results for the people of Jamaica.
